Delco: The Movie Gets Opening Premiere Jan. 17 at Media Theatre
It’s a wrap on “Delco: The Movie” and preparations are underway for a Jan. 17 red-carpet premiere at the Media Theatre, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
The film was directed and produced by Sun Valley High School graduate and Delco native Chris Pierdomenico.
The coming-of-age comedy/drama stars Steve Harding, Jenna Kuerzi and Jeff Pleiffer. They’re supported by Hollywood stars Brian O”Halloran (“Clerks”), Brian Dunkleman (“American Idol”), Brian Anthony Wilson (“The Wire”), Leah Cevoli, (“Robot Chicken”), and J.J. Cohen (“Back to the Future”).
Delaware County business owners, community members and a crowdfunding campaign in the summer of 2023 bankrolled the film.
Delco: The Movie” features many recognizable Delaware County locations, including Tom Jones Restaurant, Wawa, the Brookhaven police station, Ro-Lynn Deli, Marty Magee’s Irish Pub, Brad Fab Welding and Springfield Presbyterian Church.
Pierdomenico, now a teacher, wrote the original script while a student at Sun Valley High in Aston.
“It’s been such a full-circle moment for me,” Pierdomenico said. “I’ve gotten to cast my former teachers, who are now retired, to play themselves in my movie, and on the flip side I’ve gotten to involve my current and former students as crew and background.”
