The family-owned Italian restaurant Buona Sera Ristorante, which opened in Haverford Township in 2022, has opened a second location at 801 W. Sproul Road in Springfield, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

Unlike its Havertown sister, the Springfield location will offer lunch as well as dinner, featuring

traditional old world made-from-scratch Italian dishes.

Almost everyone who works at the restaurant is related, natives of Ecuador, from the owners and chefs to the hostesses, managers and servers.

Buono Sera executive chef and co-owner Pedro Perez came to the United States 30 years ago and started working at different restaurants in New York, first as the “pizza guy,” then dishwasher, then chef.

Second head chef, relative, and co-owner Joseph Quinzumbay of Havertown also learned to cook Italian in New York restaurants and perfected his cooking skills in Italy.

It was a cousin living in Lansdowne who encouraged them to open a restaurant in Delaware County.

“When we came here in 2020, we immediately fell in love with the area, and have been living and working here ever since,” Genaro said. “After 25 years in New York, our family all lives here now. It’s calm. It’s nice and it has nice people.”
