Wyeth Miniatures, featuring dollhouse furniture and tiny paintings, are part of a new holiday display at the Brandywine River Museum.

Something new has been added to this year’s holiday displays at the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford—Wyeth miniatures, reports Tim Furlong for NBC 10 Philadelphia.

The Wonderful World of Wyeth Miniatures will include a train set originally purchased by Jamie Wyeth and his good friend, Andy Warhol.

It will also showcase a dollhouse and its contents created for Betsy Wyeth’s daughter.

Her daughter never had a dollhouse as a child so in the 1960s, her husband built her a nine-foot-tall dollhouse outside. It was filled with hand-made pieces and tiny paintings.

“The family would decorate it with miniature furniture,” said Amanda Burdan, senior curator. “Of course, she has artistic family members so they painted tiny paintings for her.”

In addition to the new exhibit, the holiday model railroad display returns, along with the signature critter ornaments on the atrium tree.

“We want you to walk in the door and go, “wow,” said Paul Hoerner, senior model railroad specialist.

This is Hoerner’s 36th year designing the popular train exhibit. The scaled-down landscape includes a carnival, ice skaters, a drive-in movie theater and hundreds of railcars traveling over mountains and through tunnels and towns.
