Gratitude, Receiving, and Giving on LinkedIn

“The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.” (Norman Vincent Peale)

As the holiday season approaches, we’re reminded of the power of gratitude, the importance of receiving graciously, and the joy of giving back.

These principles resonate in our personal lives and on professional platforms like LinkedIn, where our networks thrive on collaboration, learning, and mutual support. Amplify your impact through support and generosity.

The Ripple Effect of Gratitude on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is more than a professional networking platform; it’s a community where professionals exchange knowledge, resources, and encouragement. When someone shares insights, mentors us, or provides a service, it’s an opportunity to reflect gratitude. You can express your appreciation tangibly through:

Writing Recommendations: A well-crafted LinkedIn recommendation can significantly impact someone’s professional journey. By sharing how someone’s expertise or services positively influenced you, you amplify their credibility, providing social proof and showing genuine appreciation.

Engaging Authentically: Commenting on posts, endorsing skills, and sharing valuable content are simple yet meaningful ways to support others.

Supporting Nonprofits and Small Businesses

Nonprofits, like small businesses, are engines of impact that rely on community support to thrive. Many professionals turn to nonprofits for services such as career coaching, professional development, or networking opportunities. This season, let’s show gratitude by giving back:

Black Friday

Consider purchasing services or products from small business owners who have shared their expertise with you. This is a practical way to show gratitude while supporting local and independent entrepreneurs.

From November 25th to December 6th, you can use coupon code BLACKFRI24 to save $10 on an annual professional membership (from $59 to $49, which is one cuppa coffee a month) to boost your career or someone else’s at out 501(c)3 nonprofit. That’s one cuppa coffee for 18-25 monthly events for less than $.25 an event.

Giving Tuesday

Nonprofits are the backbone of many communities, providing services that uplift and empower individuals. A tax-deductible donation to a 501(c)3 nonprofit you’ve benefitted from is an act of gratitude and an investment in their mission to continue serving others.

From now through the end of December 2024, if you have received value from my articles or the professional development from the Great Careers Network or want to support a job seeker in need of our services you can make a tax deductible donation to https://givebutter.com/GCN2024 or text GCN2024 to 53-555. You will receive an auto-reply with the tax deductible receipt for your records.

How to Give Back Mindfully

Reflect on Your Network: Think about who in your network has shared valuable insights, offered mentorship, or provided services that have helped you grow personally or professionally.

Take Action:
Write a LinkedIn recommendation or endorse skills for individuals.
Share a thoughtful post highlighting the impact of a nonprofit or small business in your life.
Make a purchase or donation and share your experience to inspire others.

Encourage Others: Use your LinkedIn platform to encourage your network to engage in gratitude and giving. A simple post about Giving Tuesday or supporting small businesses can spark a chain of impactful actions.

Gratitude as a Catalyst for Community Growth

When we express gratitude, we strengthen relationships and inspire others to pay it forward. Whether through a heartfelt LinkedIn recommendation, a thoughtful purchase on Black Friday, or a donation on Giving Tuesday, our acts of gratitude and giving can create a ripple effect of kindness and collaboration across our networks.

Let’s embrace gratitude, receive graciously, and give generously this season. Together, we can amplify the impact of our connections and support those who uplift us daily.
