Delaware County pizza can feature many unique combinations.

Sometimes you just want to mix it up a little when you order a pizza.. Fortunately, the western suburbs are loaded with pizza shops, many in Delaware County, that are ready with some unique offerings.

Here’s some favorites as compiled by Ed Williams and Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Carla’s Pizzeria in Wayne features hand-stretched 16-inch pies. A customer favorite is the Primavera Pizza.

Alessandro’s Wood Fired Italian & Bar in Wayne offers a Margherita pizza topped with slices of mozzarella, unique because of Alessandro’s chef Alex Fiorella using semi-soft fiore di latte cheese.

Oso Sweet Bakery Café in Chadds Ford has pizza night on Fridays, with live music. There’s a rustic artisan simplicity in its pepperoni pizza.

La Porta Ristorante in Media provides a unique Due Carne white pizza with Calabrian nduja sausage.

LaScala’s Fire in Newtown Square and Villanova brings salt and sweet with fig and smoke prosciutto pizza.

Pica’s in Upper Darby has been selling its iconic square pie since 1956, putting the cheese on the bottom so the sauce shines amidst an extra-crispy crust.

Main Line Pizza & Catering in Wayne has created a tasty veggie crust using a family cauliflower pie recipe.
