With traditional wedding favors losing popularity, a growing number of couples throughout the nation are opting for gifting suites and experiential gifts instead, writes Shivani Vora for The New York Times.

Vanessa Kreckel, the founder of TPD Design House in Wayne, said that she is now creating gifting suites and experiential gifts for roughly 80 percent of her wedding clients.

That is a 50 percent increase compared to two years ago.

Gifting suites allow wedding attendees to pick their choice of souvenir from the available selection to take home with them. This way, the idea is that they will hopefully actually end up actually using it.

Meanwhile, with experiential gifts, guests get to take part in activities where they get to make their own presents. Both of these options offer couples the chance to provide their guests with a distinctive gifting experience.

“Couples always want different,” said Kreckel.
