One of two ChristianaCare micro hospitals will be coming to Aston Township, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.
A notice posted on the township website Friday stated the two-story hospital will be built at 700 N. Turner Way, across Dutton Mill Road from the IceWorks skating facility.
The building currently there will be demolished.
A ChristianaCare spokesman said Aston Township is under “serious consideration” and that more information would be provided once plans are finalized.
Back in February 2024, ChristianaCare and its partner, Emerus Holdings Inc. announced they would create two new neighborhood hospitals in Delaware County.
“We are excited to bring this new model of care to our neighbors in Delaware County,” Janice Nevin, ChristianaCare president and CEO said in the February press release.
The nonprofit healthcare organization hopes the neighborhood micro-hospitals will provide sustainable access to healthcare that’s easy and convenient for local communities.
Aston officials said a conditional use hearing will be held to consider ChristianCare’s plans, along with appearances before the Aston Township Planning Commission and the New Construction Committee.
ChristianaCare had considered acquiring the Crozer Health system in February 2022 but the plan fell through.
