Frontier Airline routes added in February for the summer season are being removed this month.

Frontier Airlines is making seasonal adjustments to its schedule, cutting eight routes from Philadelphia International Airport, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The low-cost Denver-based carrier is PHL’s second-largest airline after American Airlines

The eight routes will be cut Aug. 11 and Aug. 12 after the destinations were added earlier this year for the airline’s summer schedule.

Service will be cut between Philadelphia and Knoxville, Tennessee; Portland, Maine; Indianapolis and Milwaukee on Aug. 11.

Routes between PHL and St. Louis; Pensacola, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; and Columbus, Ohio, will end Aug. 12.

Nationally, Frontier cut 43 routes in total.

Frontier spokesperson Rob Harris said in a statement the airline expects to resume the cut routes from Philadelphia after seasonal breaks.

“We are implementing adjustments across our network and the planned conclusions of our seasonal routes and will evaluate individual markets for potential resumption in 2025 based on relevant performance,” Harris said.

The dropped routes represent 19 percent of Frontier’s operations this summer out of PHL.

When the new routes were announced in February, Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said they showed  the airline’s commitment to growth at PHL.
