Philadelphia’s Best Modern Suburbs Include 5 in Delaware County

This township building belongs in one of the five Delaware County suburbs ranked as among the best in Philadelphia.

Walkability is the name of the game when accessing the value of a Philadelphia suburban community, reports Stacker.

In fact, homes in neighborhoods where you could walk to stores, restaurants and other amenities sold for 25 percent more in 2019, according to a Redfin analysis.

Delaware County fared well when Stacker looked at Niche data for Philadelphia’s best modern suburb, with five neighborhoods making the cut.  

All five neighborhoods had A+ public and private schools.

Radnor came in 20th, boasting a median home value of $762,400, and a median rental price of $1,795.

Haverford showed up at 18, with a median home value of $413,000, and a median rental price of $1,584.

Nether Providence Township placed 9th on the list of 25, with a median home value of $400,300, and a median rental price of $1,663.

Rose Valley came in 6th, with a median home value of $679,700, and a median rental price of $3,250

Swarthmore placed 4th on the list, with a median home value of $504,900, a median rental price of $1,376.

Niche rankings were based on several factors, including diversity, cost of living, share of the population with college degrees, and the quality of schools and housing.
