Creative policing and a Safe Summer Initiative with a curfew and youth programs and activities appears to be having a positive effect on lowering crime and violence in Chester this summer, officials say.
“With the curfew detail in place, we’re not perfect but things have slowed down for us,” Chester Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky said.
A 9 PM to AM curfew is in effect for anyone under 18 years old until Aug. 31, writes Katheen Carey for the Daily Times.
There is also a Chester Safe Summer link that offers a variety of activities for children and teens. The link has been visited 2,000 times.
“I just want to honor and commend you guys out there and the organizations that aren’t represented for the work that you’ve done this summer. I see it all across town,” said Chester Mayor Stefan Roots.
