If everything goes as planned, Calandrino's Old City Vino will be the newest addition to Philadelphia's wine scene by the end of the month.

Three brothers have been working for about a-year-and-a-half, welcoming customers to Calandrino’s Old City Vino, their wine bar and bottle shop.

After holding soft openings, Stephen, Frank, and Michael Calandrino are hopeful to officially open by the end of the month, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Calandrino’s Old City Vino occupies nearly 1,400-square-feet at the bottom floor of the National Old City residential building. At full capacity, it will be able to seat nearly 30 people.

The wine bar and bottle shop sells and serves wines sourced from small Italian vineyards. The concept currently offers 19 varieties primarily from Sicily, Calabria, and Abruzzo, with plans to grow that number to around 50. The hope is to also add more wines from Italy’s northern region.

In addition, Calandrino could eventually include a limited cocktail selection, while the wine bar will also offer a charcuterie menu featuring Italian cheeses and meats.

Calandrino’s Old City Vino will feature design elements that are considered “authentically Italian,” such as wine barrels, an antique wine press, and antique grape de-stemmers.

“It is going to add a place where people can just come in and relax and talk to neighbors,” Caladrino said.
