Swarthmore’s Broad Table Tavern Provides Farm-to-Table Dining
With an abundance of Pennsylvania farms, the farm-to-table restaurant experience can’t be far behind.
A diversity of locally-produced food and drink is available thanks to Pennsylvania spanning four regions of the country, from the Northeast to the Mid-Atlantic to Appalachia to the Great Lakes.
Farm-to-table dining supports local farmers and their communities in a more environmentally-friendly way since the food has less distance to travel.
Farm-to-Table dining has been around for decades but has grown more popular in recent years, overlapping with the seasonal and “slow food” movements.
Here in Delaware County, the Broad Table Tavern at the Inn at Swarthmore, in Swarthmore Borough, offers patrons locally sourced, seasonal ingredients prepared by expert chefs, writes Ellery Weil for The Keystone.
The Broad Table Tavern, with proprietor Pauline Scott-Brown and chef Neal Drinkwine, is popular with Swarthmore College students, their families, and with locals.
It was named a 2021 Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice.
The Tavern has New American offerings on a diverse menu, from seared dayboat scallops to a Philly cheesesteak, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner served up in a relaxed setting.
There’s outdoor dining and takeout available.
The Broad Table Tavern features local craft beers, and classic American Bourbons
