Sessa, 19, from Schwenksville, was named to the roster Tuesday.

Sessa is a forward and midfielder who also won an NCAA title last year, playing one season at the University of North Carolina.

She will be transferring to Northwestern this fall.

Sessa has been playing field hockey since age 8 for WC Eagles in Chester County. At age 14, she was selected to play on the USA Field Hockey junior national team.

Becoming an Olympian was always her goal.

“The commitment piece definitely paid off, and I would do it again for this outcome,” Sessa said.

“When I was playing hockey at WC Eagles, it was a such a big-time commitment. I missed a lot of holidays with my family for showcases, but now it has a meaning to it, and it all came back full circle.”
