Apartments and a showroom are proposed for the Lamplighter Tavern property in Oakmont.

Plans for four apartments and a showroom have moved forward for the closed Jack Quinn’s Lamplighter Tavern property off Darby Road in Havertown, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.

The Lamplighter opened In 1971 in an 1890s home. It was a favorite township watering hole in the Oakmont section for 40 years before it closed a few years ago.

The Haverford Township Zoning Hearing Board approved conditional use and parking variance requests for DMC Elite Properties, which purchased the property in June 2022.

DMC principal Dan Greenspun, a lifelong Haverford Township resident, wants a change in zoning from a restaurant to a mixed-use building and office showroom on the first floor.

Greenspun owns Penn Construction and Design, which has a showroom at 24 E. Eagle Road. He said his company has outgrown that space and hopes to move to the Lamplighter property, adding he intends to live in the third-floor apartment at the property.

His plan is to have the building fit the look and feel of Oakmont.

“I recognize it as the center of the Oakmont district. I see it as a great property,” Greenspun said.
