Villanova woman’s basketball star Lucy Olsen is transferring to the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, writes Jonathan Tannenwald and Jeff Neiburg for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Collegeville native and Spring-Ford graduate is replacing departed Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark and will play on a team that reached the national championship game in each of the last two seasons.

Olsen was Villanova’s leader in scoring, assists, steals, and minutes played.  She was the third-leading scorer in Division I this season with 23.3 points per game.

The Villanova Wildcats missed the NCAA Tournament by a small margin, then reached the final of the Women’s Invitation Tournament, an NCAA-run second-tier post-season event

Olsen made the all-conference first team after being named the Big East’s most improved player.  She was also an Associated Press honorable mention All-American.

Olsen officially visited Iowa a few days ago before Hawkeyes coach Lisa Bluder traveled to New York to see Clark go No. 1 in the WNBA draft.

The Villanova’s NIL collective tried to make it lucrative to keep Olsen here, but Iowa continues to make headlines and lucrative TV deals with Fox, NBC, and CBS.
