The 5th grade students at Greystone Elementary School, in the West Chester Area School District, recently stepped up and laced up to make a difference in their community by organizing and participating in a Mini-Bubble Walk fundraiser to benefit The Arc of Chester County.

This initiative was organized as part of Greystone’s S.O.C.K.S Day (Serving Our Community Kids Style).

On April 5th, 105 students and their teachers equipped with bottles of bubbles and Arc of Chester County sunglasses walked and/or ran the campus of Greystone Elementary for 21 minutes.

This fun and interactive event was aimed at raising awareness, educating the students about acceptance and inclusion, and the importance of community engagement. The activity also raised money to support the mission of The Arc of Chester County.

“We are proud to support The Arc of Chester County by hosting our own 5th Grade Mini-Bubble Walk at Greystone Elementary School,” said Dr. Kevin Fagan, Principal at Greystone Elementary. “It is so important for our students to understand the value of giving back to their community, and these types of events provide them with a tangible way to understand how they can make a real difference in the lives of others.”

The 5th Grade Mini-Bubble Walk at Greystone Elementary is complementing and supporting The Arc of Chester County’s 21st Annual Bubble Walk & Fun Day, which will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

“We are grateful to Greystone Elementary for their willingness to participant in such a creative way and to the 5th Graders for their outstanding effort in supporting our event and the great work we are doing with and for individuals with disabilities and their families in our community,” said Jeanne Meikrantz, Arc CEO.

The Arc of Chester County is a vital organization committed to supporting individuals and their families with disabilities by providing essential services, advocacy, and opportunities for growth and independence.

The 5th grade students’ participation in their own Bubble Walk not only demonstrated their enthusiasm for supporting a worthy cause but showed that even children ages 10 and 11 can make a positive difference in the lives of others within their community.

On May 19, The Arc is planning for more than 300 people to participate in its Annual Walk & Fun Day where proceeds help to provide life sustaining and essential services and opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families.

The funds enable them to be successful, healthy, and active members in the community.

The Arc’s event will kick off at 11:30 AM at West Goshen Community Park.

In addition to the one mile walk there will be fun performances, music, face painters, games, prizes, BINGO, food, and other fun activities for the whole family to enjoy!

And of course, there will be BUBBLES, BUBBLES, and more BUBBLES!
