Taylor Wright has a lot of his father’s moves—arms folded across his chest or extended outward, palms skyward, expressing confusion or angst, or just burying his face in his palms, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wright, 30, is the boys’ basketball coach at Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, and a 2011 graduate there.

He also happens to be the son of former Villanova coach and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Jay Wright.

“Sometimes I think it’s his dad talking when he’s talking. It’s the same thing. It’s great. It’s all good stuff. It’s just funny,” said Episcopal Academy assistant coach Tom Leibig.

That’s not to begrudge Taylor his own hard work and athletic experience, including as a pitcher in the college and independent league ranks.

Taylor Wright gave up a job in finance three years after graduation from Brown University for a chance to be a minor league pitcher at age 26.

 He ended up a reliever and starter with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League.

 In the offseason, he was assistant basketball coach for Episcopal’s junior varsity league and fell in love with the work.

Now on faculty at Episcopal, Wright hopes to one day be head coach there.
