Everything at Cabrini University these days is happening for the last time, including a Cabrini final home game for the Cavaliers.

The 112-acre campus in Radnor is being taken over by Villanova University when the school’s 67th year ends in June, writes Jeff Neiburg for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The campus is quieter, with several hundred undergrads already gone.

Despite the student drain, most Cabrini sports teams were able to make it to their last season, except for women’s basketball and women’s volleyball, who could not fill a full roster.

And a men’s volleyball program set to start this season never happened.

Amidst all this, the Cabrini Cavaliers mounted its last home game on Friday, Feb. 16, in men’s basketball at Nemey Field House.

Those who stayed have displayed a great attitude in the face of diversity, said athletic director Kate Corcoran.

“It’s impossible to ignore the gravity of this game, which is just sad,” said first-year coach Ryan Van Zelst. “That’s just the nature of the deal, right?”

The school honored its seniors and Van Zelst at the game for their dedication.

“Roll Cavs, forever,” the PA announcer said near the end of the ceremony.
