Saint Joseph’s University recently closed its merger with Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences and is looking forward to future growth across its campuses, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

This is the university’s second merger in just a couple of years. St. Joe’s closed its merger with the University of the Sciences in June of 2022.

Both mergers were driven by St. Joe’s desire to add more healthcare offerings for students.

Through the merger with Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, St. Joe’s will add 15 health science programs, including a nursing program that will be offered at the Hawk Hill campus in Philadelphia in the fall.

St. Joe’s students will now also be able to study respiratory care, surgical technology, nuclear medicine, and radiology. The school’s total student population has also now grown to include another 2,000 students.

St. Joe’s President Cheryl McConnell said that through the merger, the school has also inherited a Lancaster campus, which it will remain committed to.

“There are opportunities to grow in Lancaster,” she said. “Those opportunities relate to business and expanding health programs to meet the needs of the region.”

She added they are looking to add more health programs at the Hawk Hill campus as well.
