Hidden Away Hunt’s Annex in Woodlyn Is a Local Wings Favorite
It’s easy to miss Hunt’s Annex off MacDade Blvd. in Woodlyn, but locals know this is where you go for fabulous wings, reports Bob Kelly for Fox 29.
The feel of Hunt’s Annex is like a private club, but its wings are well known, having won best in Pennsylvania last July.
“Sweet heat is the best wings you’re going ever have, the best sauce, the best flavor, there’s nothing like it,” said one customer.
The secret is the family recipe used for the wing sauce.
“During the Eagles Super Bowl, we went through 15,000 wings,” said owner Vincent Alibrando.
There’s also the Vinny Jr. dry rub, a recipe from Vincent’s father that goes well paired with a “Bite Me” sauce on the side.
You could also try the zesty BBQ wing, deep-fried pickles paired with Chipotle ranch, and a Philly stuffed cheesesteak pickle.
The business actually started after Vincent’s grandfather bought a bar in Morton called the Knothole. He moved the business to MacDade Blvd. in 1985, changed the name, and they‘ve been there ever since.
Now Vincent runs the place.
“It’s a lot of pressure sometimes, but it’s awesome,” he said, describing long-time customers as “family.”
