Around Havertown, Jason Kelce’s a ‘Regular Guy’ They Call Mr. Delco
In Havertown, Jason Kelce is pretty popular, but he’s also a regular guy known by the locals as “Mr. Delco.”
“The flower shop, the Wawa, all the eateries. He’s everywhere,” said Carl Henderson, owner of Carl’s Cards & Collectibles on West Eagle Road.
Henderson has Kelce memorabilia proudly on display in his shop, made all the more relevant now by ESPN reports that Kelce’s retiring, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.
Kelce makes a point to stop in the store at least once a year to sign autographs and meet a long line of fans.
“For us, it was really special because we had him two days after the [Super Bowl] parade,” said Henderson.
Kelce, a 13-year veteran of the Philadelphia Eagles, has made Haverford Township his home.
Nick Haselidis, the owner of Crust Pizza and Havertown Grille, said Kelce will drop in for a pie or sit down for breakfast.
“All the customers know him. He knows all the customers by first name. He’s just a regular,” Haselidis said.
Kelce was an Eagles sixth-round draft selection in 2011. Now the 36-year-old is an All-Pro and future Hall of Famer.
