Two local families recently helped spread holiday cheer to young patients and families at Jefferson Abington Hospital.

Jennifer Suit, Greg Simpson, and their son rallied their local community together to collect toys for children spending the holidays at the hospital. With the help of their neighbors, the family collected and donated dozens of new toys and gifts to the hospital’s pediatric patients.

The trio dropped off the gifts just in time for Christmas.

Also, for the fifth year in a row, Kori Robino organized a holiday gift giveaway for families in Jefferson Abington Hospital’s Special Care Nursery (NICU). NICU families received gift bags full of preemie-sized clothing, swaddles, bibs, books, stuffed animals, and other baby care items.

The idea began as a way to honor Robino’s daughter Colette, who was born with fluid in her lungs and was successfully treated at Jefferson Abington Hospital’s NICU. This year, the Robino family was joined by NICU graduate Claire Sharkey and Nicky Smith, whose family generously donated $5,000 toward the gift bag purchases.

Today Is a Good Day, a nonprofit in Flourtown that supports NICU families, also contributed to this special giveaway.
