The Philly Specials, ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special’ album put out this season by three Philadelphia Eagles offensive players, has made the New York Times music critics’ recommended top 10 new holiday albums list.

They are part of a list that includes performers Adam Blackstone, Brandy, Sabrina Carpenter, Cher, Samara Joy, Jon Pardi, Gregory Porter, and Wheatus.

“There is no correct way to celebrate the holiday season in song,” write critics Jon Pareles, Jon Caramanica, and Lindsay Zoladz.

Regarding this year’s full holiday album by Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata, and Lane Johnson,  Zoladz pegged Mailata, a 6-foot-8 left tackle, as the star of the show.

He held his own against Patti LaBelle with the duet “This Christmas” and hit the high note at the end of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Zoladz wrote.

Johnson was also impressive with a resonant country croon covering Willie Nelson’s “Pretty Paper.”

“As for Kelce? Well, as Philly fans already know, he’s got a lot of heart,” Zoladz wrote.

She noted the inclusion of Travis Kelce on the duet “Fairytale of Philadelphia,” commenting that Travis “sings approximately as well as his girlfriend can play professional football.”
