The Philadelphia International Airport is featuring a collection of collections on display for travelers.

Philadelphia International Airport is currently featuring a wonderful collection of collections as part of its exhibition program, writes Harriet Baskas for Stuck at the Airport.

Personal Collection – Private Obsessions showcases an assortment of private collections lent to the airport by residents from around the Philadelphia region as well as the airport’s employees.

From now through May 2024, passengers traveling through the airport will get to see many nostalgic objects, including handbags, sewing thimbles, antique glass, airline silverware, and John F. Kennedy ephemera.

Not all of the exhibits dip into nostalgia. Some of them feature more familiar objects from popular culture, from ice cream scoops to Philadelphia Eagles hats to Funko Pop figures and much more.

The exhibit highlights the universal experience of collecting, with each representing a unique and personal story.

“This is the 4th exhibition of collections that we have presented over the past 25 years of the exhibitions program,” said Leah Douglas, PHL’s Director of Guest Experience. “The current installation is by far the most extensive one to date, and it is proving to be a big hit with our guests and employees.”
