Pining for a Pint? Broomall Irishman Will Rent You Park a Pub
John Chambers, a 59-year-old native of Ireland and a longtime Broomall carpenter, is bringing his love of pubs to a neighborhood near you, writes Stephanie Farr for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Chambers will rent you a mobile pub he designed and built.
Park a Pub is Chamber’s nostalgic offering to Delaware County of his native Ireland.
Pubs have been central in Chambers’ life. His parents met at Brannens Pub in Ireland’s County Mayo where his mother was a bartender.
He was first exposed as a toddler.
“Everybody goes to the pub in Ireland when they’re able to walk,” he explained.
He had his first pint at 15.
Chambers met his wife, Maureen, 57, of Folcroft, at the Welcome Inn pub in County Mayo while she was visiting her Irish grandparents.
They moved to Delaware County in 1987 and married the following year.
Park a Pub seats 12 to 15 people and has all the charm and character of a real Irish Pub.
There’s a wooden bar with three stools and two taps, including one for Guinness.
The wood came from the former Archbishop Prendergast High School.
For finishing touches, the pub is decorated with wheelbarrows, barrels, and seasonal items for renters.
