Wedding paintings are gaining popularity for brides and grooms as an addition to photos and videos.

Wayne artist Jessica Libor brings a unique vantage point to weddings beyond photographs and videos by creating a wedding painting, writes Alfred Lubrano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

For $3,000 to $7,000, Libor will memorialize the wedding day with a portrait of the bride and groom.

Libor makes a show of it at the wedding reception, setting up an easel, canvas, and oils while guests observe.

“Guests will roam around to check on the progress of the painting, starting with the cocktail hour,” said the 36-year-old. “They’re tipsy, happy, and appreciative of what I’m doing.

The painting also serves as an heirloom that can be passed on to the couple’s children.

Wedding live-event paintings, though still a unique phenomenon, have been growing in popularity, fueled by TikTok and word-of-mouth.

Libor has a painting in her home studio of a couple at their wedding in Media from a few weeks back.  At the couple’s request, she exercised some artistic license and included the couple’s cat in the painting.

“I give the bride and groom whatever they want,” Libor said. “Usually, they ask for a painting of the vows being exchanged at the ceremony or the first dance at the reception.”
