The Media Little League team is one win away Friday afternoon, Aug. 11, from advancing to the 20-team Little League World Series in Williamsport, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Media Little League defeated Washington, D.C., 16-3, Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the Little League Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament in Bristol, Conn.

That win moves them to the regional championship, slated for 3 PM Friday. The Media Little League team faces the winner of Thursday’s semifinal between Washington and Delaware.

The Little League World Series begins Aug. 16.

At Tuesday’s game, Trevor Skowonek hit a three-run homer and pitched 3-1/3 shut-out innings.

Media Little League manager Tom Bradley gathered the infield by the pitcher’s mound Tuesday as they headed into the third inning and distracted them with a story about a dog stealing a rosin bag.

When the team of 12-year-olds advanced to the winner’s bracket of the Mid-Atlantic Regionals, earlier in August, Bradley took it all in stride.

“You live by each moment stop, and you do what you can to prepare for the next step,” Manager Tom Bradley said. “We’re getting ready to go play some games, and we’ll see what happens, he told Fox 29.
