American Airlines is pivoting back to a pre-panemic project to build a Flagship Lounge at Philadelphia International Airport.

American Airlines was just about to start work on its Flagship Lounge, a dedicated business class lounge, for Philadelphia International Airport.

Then COVID hit.

Now that project is back on track, writes Gary Leff for View From the Wing.

American already has Flagship lounges in Miami, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles

A lounge at New York’s JFK airport was converted into a business-class Greenwich lounge, which it shares with British Airways.

American is the largest airline flying out of Philadelphia, and now that it has lost its partnership with JetBlue, it’s re-initializing the project at PHL.

It may take a while for it to arrive, however. It’s not expected to be completed by summer 2024.

Flagship lounges are open to “Oneworld” international business (and first) class passengers, to American’s Platinum elites and higher flying internationally, and to “Oneworld” partner airline mid-tier elites.

“We continue our commitment to offer customers a premium experience in the Philadelphia International Airport and will share more updates on the Flagship Lounge as they become available,” the airline states.

Meanwhile, American customers can still access the Admirals Club lounges in terminals A, B/C, and F.
