PECO’s natural gas investment included more than 96 Delaware County projects in 2022 so the county would have a safe and reliable natural gas system.
PECO executed a multi-million-dollar investment plan which included equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation of new natural gas mains and service lines to reach more customers.
During the next five years, PECO will invest about $7.8 billion across its electric and natural gas systems to inspect equipment, complete targeted system enhancements and corrective maintenance, invest in new equipment, and perform vegetation management work.
PECO has developed a Natural Gas Long-Term Infrastructure Plan, which will help to modernize the company’s natural gas infrastructure, enhancing safety and reliability and reducing methane emissions.
In 2023, PECO is spending $281 million in capital investments across all counties on the natural gas infrastructure — higher than at any point in the last decade.
“At PECO, we’re always evaluating our infrastructure to meet the growing needs of our more than 548,000 natural gas customers across southeastern Pennsylvania, so they have reliable energy when they need it most,” said Amy Hamilton, PECO vice president of Gas Operations. “We take a year-round, proactive approach to inspect our infrastructure and make upgrades and improvements so we can support the region through every season.”
PECO was founded in 1881 and is Pennsylvania’s largest electric and natural gas delivery company.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, PECO delivers energy to nearly 1.7 million electric customers and more than 548,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The company’s 2,900 employees are dedicated to enhanced energy management conservation, environmental stewardship and community assistance.
