The Foundation for Delaware County Welcomes 2 New Board Members

The Foundation for Delaware County introduces the Community Needs Impact Fund.

Two new board members, Steven Scott Bradley, and Robert Dumont, have been elected to The Foundation for Delaware County’s Board of Directors.

Four other community leaders have been reappointed as officers on the board. They are Cyrise L. Dixon, chairman; Michael B. Mgnavita, CPA, Vice Chairman; Ted Peters, Secretary; and Kelly Thorntno, Treasurer.

“We are thrilled to have Steven and Robert join the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Their experience and leadership will help us continue providing resources and leadership to address the challenges facing the diverse communities throughout our county,” says Frances Sheehan, President. “It is an exciting time for the Foundation. The continuity of our board officers and the experience of our board members will be a real asset as we implement our new strategic plan later this year.”

Steven Scott Bradley of Sharon Hill founded the insurance firm Bradley & Bradley Associates in 2001. Earlier this year, the business was acquired by OneDigital

Bradley has served as chairman of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware for 13 years. He became chairman emeritus in November.

As chairman of the chamber, he was an outspoken advocate for the community and forged partnerships with other organizations prioritizing diversity.

He was recently named the 2023 Diversity in Business Awards Lifetime Achievement recipient from the Philadelphia Business Journal, and serves on the board of directors of WHYY.

Robert Dumont of Wallingford recently retired as CFO from Xactus, a leading mortgage data and service provider. 

During his career, Dumont was responsible for directing the company’s mergers and acquisitions activity, financial reporting, and compliance programs. ]

He previously worked in public accounting with a regional accounting firm for five years and KPMG for four years before leaving to manage his own CPA practice.

In addition to current business responsibilities, he serves on the board of Cardinal O’Hara High School.

Cyrise L. Dixon is currently the Community Violence Intervention Coordinator for CASA Youth Advocates.

She was the first female patrol officer in the City of Chester and served as the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Chester. Before that, she was Chief of Staff for the Chester Police Department.

Dixon currently serves on the boards of the Chester Community Improvement Program, Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, and Senior Community Services.

In addition to her previous role as Secretary of the Foundation’s board, Cyrise has been the co-chair of the Foundation’s Racial Equity Committee for the last three years.

Michael B. Magnavita is president and CEO of Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (“FMFCU”).

He serves on the Board of Directors of the Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute, Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation, and White Horse Village.

In addition to his service on the Foundation’s board, Magnavita chaired the Foundation’s Delaware County COVID-19 Response Fund, raising and distributing over $1 million to food banks and other nonprofits facing challenges due to the pandemic.

Kelly Thornton of Newtown Square is a Higher Education & Health Services Assurance Partner in the Philadelphia office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).

At PwC, Kelly also leads Diversity and Inclusion for the Mid-Atlantic Market and previously coordinated the firm’s corporate responsibility activities in Philadelphia.

She currently serves on the boards of The Delaware County Literacy Council, Visiting Nurses Association of Greater Philadelphia, Communities in Schools of Philadelphia, and Garrett Williamson.

Ted Peters of Bryn Mawr is chairman and CEO of Bluestone Financial Institutions Fund and former chairman and CEO of Bryn Mawr Bank Corporation and the Bryn Mawr Trust Company.

He served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia board from 2009-14.

The Foundation for Delaware County is the largest philanthropy in Delaware County and one of 780 community foundations across the U.S.

The Foundation offers support and resources for nonprofits of every size, helps generous people give with more impact, brings together funders, nonprofits, and elected officials to address critical community problems, and responds to major challenges and crises as they arise.

In addition to grant funding, the Foundation operates the Center for Nonprofit Excellence to strengthen Delaware County’s nonprofit community through training workshops and peer learning opportunities.

The Foundation encourages philanthropy by connecting donors to worthy causes through efficient charitable giving vehicles like donor-advised and scholarship funds.

The Foundation operates the prestigious public health programs Healthy Start, the WIC nutrition program, and Nurse-Family Partnership.

In addition to the Housing Opportunities Program for Equity (HOPE), other programs include El Centro (a Hispanic resource center) and a health resource center for students in the Chester Upland School District.
