Another side of Andrew Wyeth is set to be on display at the Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford beginning this Saturday, according to The Daily Local News.

Abstract Flash: Unseen Andrew Wyeth includes abstract watercolor pieces that have not been seen by the public. The Chester County painter, known for his realist landscapes, identified as an abstract artist.  

Andrew Wyeth’s unseen works include 38 pieces rom the Andrew and Betsy Wyeth Collection of the Wyeth Foundation for American Art. The exhibition will also include rare archival documents.  

“These works represent some of the most spontaneous and free work that Andrew Wyeth ever produced. If his temperas are the most formal expression of an idea, his studies show the artist thinking, and feeling, on paper,” said curator Karen Baumgartner. 

The exhibition is on view through Feb. 18, 2024. This fall, a fully illustrated catalogue will be joining the exhibition.
