Upper Darby’s The Wardrobe Partners With Helpsy for Free Clothes Pickup

Folks in Chester, Bucks and Montgomery Counties looking to donate old clothes can now get free clothing pickups thanks to a partnership between the nonprofit Helpsy and The Wardrobe in Upper Darby and Philadelphia, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Those wishing to donate can visit the Helpsy website and put in their address.  A Helpsy driver will then make free pickups from 7 AM to  6 PM. 

Helpsy has already had huge success with its programs across the Northeast U.S. and has decided to expand into the Philadelphia region. The expansion is made easier because of the partnerships with places like The Wardrobe.

“It is exciting to not only further our mission of keeping clothes out of the trash and minimizing textile waste, but also to provide such a meaningful service to The Wardrobe’s supporters and clients,” said Dan Green, co-founder, and CEO of Helpsy.

Seventy-five percent of donated clothes go to stores like The Wardrobe, ending up on shelves or going to community benefit programs.

The other 25 percent is recycled for rags or industrial insulation.

Every year, The Wardrobe upcycles over 200,000 pounds of gently used and new clothing,
