Famous director M. Night Shyamalan, whose work includes The Sixth Sense and Split, is selling 90 acres of the 210-acre Kirkwood Farm to the Willistown Conservation Trust for $9 million, writes Kevin Riordan for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Shyamalan purchased the farm in March for $24 million.

Shyamalan’s Willistown estate is close to Kirkwood Farm. The filmmaker grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Trust executive director Kate Etherington said that the portion of the Chester County farm that will be preserved is “a magnificent piece of land.”

“Kirkwood Farm has rolling hills, meadows, woodlands, and creeks, and it’s a prime bird habitat,” she said. “We’re thrilled to be able to open this up to the public.”

According to Bill Shoemaker, a member of the Willistown Board of Supervisors, the director has been hugely supportive of the entire process and instrumental in making this happen.

“We believe this will provide enormous environmental and social value to our township,” he added.

County Commissioners Marian Moskowitz, Josh Maxwell, and Michelle Kichline described the 90-acre property as “a spectacular landscape.”

They added that a new parking lot along with walking trail connections are planned to be added to the site.
