Pete Trenham has always been curious about golf history. When he was 10, he hung around the Mount Dora Golf Club in Florida asking questions.

“I would ask the old players questions,” he said. “I should’ve asked more.”

Now at 86, golf is still his passion, and his curiosity has only grown, writes Michael Bradley for Main Line Today.

That’s made him one of the region’s foremost authorities on golf. His website, trenhamgolfhistory.org, Is a leading authority on the game.

Trenham is also a former golf professional, a championship player and a Philadelphia PGA Section Hall of Famer.

Most of his career took place at St. Davids Golf Club in Wayne. He was head pro there for 29 years and is still considered the “oracle” for the club.

Trenham writes an article for the St. Davids newsletter about its history 10 times a year. In 2022, he helped Joe Logue write a book about the club’s history going back to its founding in 1927.

For members at St. Davids, Trenham is a fixture, along with his son, Mike.

“The Trenham name is synonymous with St. Davids Golf Club and its history,” said Mark Mayock, a member there for 12 years.
