Can Media Borough Neighbors Out Fox the Foxes? Hopes Are High

By

Shoes, sports equipment, and newspapers are once again disappearing from the porches and yards of neighbors in Media Borough, but this time, they know who is behind the thefts, reports Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

The foxes have returned.

“Back again,” said Tom Acquarola, whose yard has been a favorite fox dumping ground for two years now.

“Few pairs in, few pairs reunited with their owners,” he said of items he finds each morning.

The neighbors have formed a Facebook group to help reunite items with owners.

“I immediately start scanning and I see two familiar shoes,” said Dianne Laden, who lives about five blocks away from the Acquarolas.

Sometimes it’s a pair of shoes, but not a matching pair.

“We did get one full set back so that was a huge win,” Laden said.

Wildlife experts suspect it’s just a game with the foxes.

“… you have a couple of foxes that are just being goofy and they’re choosing to play with your toys instead of their own,” said Leah Stallings, executive director of AARK Wildlife.

With this being fox baby season, it’s likely cubs are just having fun.

She advises people to let the foxes be since they don’t pose a threat.
