Freedom Village at Brandywine recently hosted its 17^th annual awards ceremony where 22 Freedom Village employees received college-level scholarships.

The ceremony took place in the Greg Welch Auditorium on the Freedom Village campus in Chester County.

Entirely funded and run by the Freedom Village residents, this ceremony is a long-standing tradition for the community to reward deserving employees with scholarships through the Freedom Village Brandywine Scholarship Fund to pursue further education. 

“It is an honor to be a recipient of the Freedom Village Brandywine Scholarship,” said Katie Perine, scholarship recipient, and Health and Wellness Nurse Navigator at Freedom Village. “This opportunity will allow me to pursue the education and career I have dreamt of, and it is all thanks to the support and genuine care of the community at Freedom Village. I will be forever grateful for this life-changing gift.”

“One of the aspects that I love most about being a part of this community is that we truly care, look out for, and treat one another like a family,” said Maggie Doyle, a resident of Freedom Village and chair of the scholarship fund. “The residents at Freedom Village are always enthusiastic about donating to the fund in order to help the young people who have become like part of our family as they advance themselves through their education.” 

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, candidates must have worked at the community throughout the past year and provide a transcript of current grades, as well as three letters of recommendation, including one from their immediate supervisor at the community.

The Freedom Village Brandywine Scholarship Fund, Inc., is supported by tax-deductible contributions from Freedom Village residents and their friends and family members.
