As we inch our way toward warmer weather, people are finding opportunities for dining and drinking near scenic waterways.

Here in Delaware County, you can take in the view at Stingers Waterfront restaurant in Ridley Park, writes Jen Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The scenery is Darby Creek at the Ridley Township Municipal Marina, while in the distance, aircraft take off from Philadelphia International Airport and traffic from PHL and I-95 are nearby.

It’s a Delco thing.

“We can’t get away from major highways out here,” said a dining companion from Delaware County.

That same companion remembered when Stingers was once the Taste of Key West, a beach-themed bar that included its own sand.

These days, Stingers takes it up a notch, serving seared scallops, mahi-mahi tacos, and a waterfront chicken sandwich with crab imperial, bacon, and Old Bay mayo.

Customers can find mass-produced beer, affordable wine, and colorful frozen and non-frozen cocktails.

For those eager to get on the water, you can launch a kayak or canoe from the Marina slip for a fee and paddle up Darby Creek toward the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.
