Pennsylvania is one of the top states in the nation to be a lawyer, according to a new study recently released by the law firm website Federal-Lawyer.com.

Federal-Lawyer.com analyzed multiple factors to determine the best states to work in the field, including demand, earnings, existing employment, and job vacancies.

Pennsylvania ranked in tenth place. An average lawyer salary in the Keystone State is $133,330. Unlike in many other major cities, just 13.73 percent of that pay goes towards rent on average. This is the fourth lowest percentage among the top ten states on the list.

Additionally, around 0.26 percent of job vacancies across the state were found to be for lawyers. There were a total of 273,259 vacancies in the analyzed period, with 713 of them being lawyer job vacancies.

There is also high demand for lawyers in Pennsylvania. The study found 156 searches for them per 100,000 people. This is the third highest demand across the top ten states for being a lawyer.

Overall, the best state to be a lawyer is New York.
