Authentic Italian cooking arrives in the neighborhoods of Morton Borough today when a new Italian restaurant, Luca’s Cucina, opens for takeout and catering at 29 S. Morton Ave., writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The family business restaurant is owned by Luca and Stefania Capoti of Ridley Park.  Its menu features dishes like Ravioli at Formaggio, Penne con Zucchine e Gamberi, Pasta /Fagioli e Cozze, and Penne Melanzane.

Antipasti, panini, salads and soup specials are available and there are plenty of pasta dishes on the catering menu.

Luca is from Gallipoli in the Puglia region of far southeast Italy.

He had a restaurant in his homeland for five years until he came to America 16 years ago to work at his friend’s restaurant, L’Angolo, in Philadelphia.

Luca met his wife, Stefania there. She was born and raised in South Philadelphia and shares his passion for cooking.

“Stefania and I both realized how much we had in common, not only sharing the same language, but we learned that we were both taught by the world’s greatest cooks: our nonnas,” Luca said.

Luca’s Cucina is located at the former Devine Occasions Catering.
