Local fans of Dungeons & Dragons, a popular roleplaying game, are overjoyed to see their favorite pastime finally get star-studded, big-budget movie treatment, write Rosa Cartagena and Nate File for The Philadelphia Inquirer. 

The beloved 1974 game has been immortalized on the big screen in the newly released Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a movie that aims to satisfy both hard-core adventurers and novices. 

Previous attempts to bring the franchise to the big screen bombed spectacularly. However, this latest iteration has a $150 million budget, which ensures that shoddy special effects are left in the past. Instead, it delivers a fun adventure with a cast that includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, and Regé-Jean Page. 

“It’s been really exciting to see something that you love appearing in popular culture, especially when it’s something that typically gets a bad rap as being for nerds or antisocial kids,” said Amy Dzura, a Phoenixville-based D&D player and organizer. “It’s nice to see that someone thinks that the D&D audience is worth making a movie for.”
