See Which Delco Firm Made a US Top 100 Largest Employer List
A Delaware County company made Forbes’ list of the top 100 largest employers in the US, writes Ryan Muligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.
The international software company SAP, which has its U.S. headquarters in Newtown Square, came in 80th on the list.
It was one of six Philadelphia region companies to crack the top 100.
Nearby on the list was Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA, with its North American base located in Conshohocken. It placed 86th.
The Philadelphia-area firm coming in highest on the list was Penn Medicine which came in at 30, followed by the Malvern-based investment firm Vanguard at 51, the University of Pennsylvania at 65, and Newark-based manufacturer W.L. Gore and Associates at 63rd.
The University of Pennsylvania jumped 4 spots from 129th last year. Penn Medicine, the region’s third largest employer, jumped 12 spots compared with last year. Vanguard, the eighth-largest employer in the region, leaped up 24 spots.
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, named top large employer in the U.S. last year, dropped to 158 in 2023.
Wawa, currently on a massive expansion campaign, still has a ways to go to crack the top 100 for largest employer. It placed 295th on the Forbes list.
