Crozer Health, and its parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, have been delaying payment to some of its vendors and contractors at Crozer Chester Medical Center, according to a Crozer nurse, Crozer pharmacist, and an Upland Borough police chief, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY.

TridentCare, which inserts PICC and IV lines into patients wasn’t able to offer that service because a bill had not been paid, said Peggy Malone, president of the Crozer-Chester Nurses Association.

It has since been paid.

Credit holds kept equipment from arriving that was used to package medications, delaying drug deliveries for patients, said Judy Ramos, president of the Crozer-Chester Society of Pharmacists.

“We finally got to a point where we had to use little Ziploc bags and package things like that and put a label on them — not very professional looking.”

An Upland Borough Police officer was removed from the Upland hospital because Prospect owes the borough just under $70,000, according to Upland Police Chief Michael Irey.

Prospect and Crozer did not respond to a request for comment from WHYY News.

Ramos said Crozer’s CEO and medical director are working to get the health system to nonprofit status, which would help a lot.
