Wawa has topped Sheetz once again as the Delco-based chain of convenience stores has been voted as having the best gas station bathrooms in Pennsylvania, and the second-best nationwide, according to a recent survey, writes Stephanie Farr for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

GasBuddy’s 2018 summer travel survey also found that Wawa has the best bathrooms in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. Being the best in six states puts Wawa in second nationally, just behind QuickTrip.

The result is good news for Wawa. Another survey published last year showed that stores with highly rated restrooms saw an increase in foot traffic of 33 percent over those that had below-average ratings.

The top-rated brands for restroom quality during the third quarter of 2017 were Buc-ee’s, Kwik Trip, and Kelley’s Market.

“We all understand the high level of stress when it comes to needing to use the restroom while on the road,” said Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy. “According to our research, more than half of consumers said that a clean restroom is mandatory when considering where to stop.”
