Despite the growing popularity of destination restaurants, the traditional steakhouse remains a place that offers a classic meal guaranteed to satisfy your palate and sate your hunger without having to rely on unusual ingredients or flashy presentations, writes Jason Sheehan for Philadelphia magazine.

Not too long ago, the steakhouse was the only American restaurant that mattered when you considered a high-dining experience.

There are a number of steakhouses in Philadelphia that have managed to survive and thrive through an evolving restaurant scene, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse at 555 Lancaster Avenue in Radnor is among the best.

With an ingredient list that has mostly remained unchanged for decades, it offers a classic meal for the days when you do not feel like wading through a complicated menu.

Fleming’s is part of a massive chain with locations all over the nation but still manages to be unique in two ways. It is not located in Center City, and it bridges the gap between high-dollar steakhouses and more modern restaurants.

Instead, Fleming’s offers a more casual vibe along with an interesting spread of appetizers, including tuna poke and a house-made burrata.
