The Philadelphia cheesesteak is everywhere these days, thanks to local fans like Joe Crescenzo who have been transplanted elsewhere, reports Fox 29.

Crescenzo is 2,500 miles from his home in Sharon Hill, creating cheesesteaks at his Philly-themed shop in San Diego.

He’s been away for 40 years, but never forgot where he come from.  His sandwiches use authentic Philly staples and on the shelves of his Philadelphia Sandwich Co. shop, you’ll find Tasty Cakes and Taylor Pork Roll.

There’s even Amaroso rolls shipped from home.

The shop reminds you of a South Philly deli, with Eagles gear on display and Rocky images on the walls and countertops.

“They come in and look at all the decor, they say ‘man reminds me of home’ and then they hear this accent, and then they really say ‘I feel like I’m at home’,” Crescenzo said.

He’s been in business in San Diego since the 1970s.

The shop’s positioned well this week ahead of game one of the National League Championship series between the Phillies and the Padres.

“It’s great out here, the weather is great, but my heart and my family and everybody there still in Philly,” Crescenzo said.
