Ten-month-old Bryson Ferrier from Linwood is named after Bryce Harper.

Bryson Ferrier is making quite a splash in 2022, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

First, he was Delaware County’s 2022 New Year baby, arriving at 4:16 a.m. Jan. 1 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Now the nearly 10-month-old from Linwood is good luck for the Philadelphia Phillies, thanks to his namesake.

Bryson’s mom, Felicia Chivalette, and his dad, Robert Ferrier, named him after Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper.

The Phillies made it to the World Series following Harper’s two-run home run in the eighth inning of Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

Did Bryson’s naming months before bring luck to the team?

“Could be,” said Chivalette.

There’s a lot of Phillies enthusiasm in the family that’s being handed down to Bryson.

“He’s got little mini bats,” Chivalette said of Bryson. “He’s got Phillies’ blankets and shirts. He’s all about the Phillies.”

Chivalette is pleased her son is named after an accomplished athlete, especially one going to the World Series.

“That’s all anyone kept saying: “That’s why Bryson is named after him,” she said. “It’s pretty cool.”
