PIT Careers–Director of Nursing

The Practical Nursing Program Director provides leadership for the College’s Practical Nursing Program, including curriculum oversight and review, continuous quality evaluation, and requirements for continuing accreditation.

The Program Director is responsible for the overall operation of the program, including but not limited to planning, budgeting, scheduling, personnel matters, curriculum, instruction, professional development, and other academic matters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates clinical, simulation, and lab experiences, student learning outcomes, and serves as mentor for clinical faculty.
  • Demonstrates mastery of the curriculum plan when designing, planning, and implementing course(s).
  • Counsels and guides the students.
  • Responsible for maintaining clinical facility contracts, student clinical evaluations and collection of clinical minutes for each facility.
  • Assists faculty to plan, implement, and evaluate the integration of simulation into curriculum to promote student learning, critical thinking and clinical decision making.
  • Assists in formulating policies for the program.
  • Participates in student and faculty orientation.
  • Responsible for training new clinical adjuncts.
  • Assists in the selection and interviewing of nursing faculty.
  • Manages the status of clearances for students entering the program and while in the program in conjunction with the clearance coordinator.
  • Assists with maintaining compliance for the program and upholding State Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Supervises and evaluates adjunct staff.
  • Contributes to recruitment and retention of students and faculty.
  • Develops and supports relationships with cooperating agencies.

Candidates for this position must have excellent communication, interpersonal and time-management skills, proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

They must have the ability to work in a diverse college environment across multiple learning programs, have a knowledge of trends in nursing and nursing education, have knowledge of laws and regulations in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing, know how to manage a budget and be able to lead efforts to obtain national accreditation.  

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing with a Ph.D. preferred and hold a current PA nursing license.

They should have at least five years’ current experience in nursing and two years with direct patient care experience, teaching experience at the college level and familiarity with the PA State Board of Nursing regulations for nursing education.

PIT Careers–Financial Aid Advisor

The Financial Aid Advisor’s primary responsibility as a representative of the college is to project the mission of “Student Success” to prospective applicants and to assist qualified applicants through the financial aid process.

The financial aid advisor should have:

  • One or more years of experience in financial aid in higher education/
  • Three or more years of experience in customer service.
  • A college degree is strongly preferred.
  • A willingness to attend on and off campus events and work non-traditional hours; including evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Strong computer skills. Previous experience using Campus Nexus or similar CRM is a plus.
  • Good standing with Title IV loans in order to obtain access to the National Student Loan System (NSLDS).

Candidates for this positon will:

  • Brief new students on the necessary documents that need to be returned/check list that must be completed to process their financial aid.
  • Assist students in applying for all aspects of financial aid funding (federal, state, private, veterans, etc.)
  • Serve as a contact for students with financial aid related questions by counseling incoming and current students on financial aid resources.
  • Collect and track financial documents in student files to verify financial aid eligibility.
  • Package, process, and mail/e-mail financial aid award letters and payment plans for new and continuing students.
  • Exercise professional judgment based on experience and a thorough knowledge of appropriate federal regulations.
  • Attend ongoing training sessions/webinars.
  • Assist students with the completion of entrance and exit interviews in accordance with college, state, federal, and other agency guidelines.
  • Assist at special school functions (Open House, Information Sessions, Orientations, Graduations, etc).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills in person, in writing and on the phone are a must. Attention to detail, great organizational skills, a sense of urgency, and a passion for helping the student achieve their educational and/or career goals is required, along with the ability to thrive in a team environment is essential.

PIT Careers–Director- Student Affairs and TRIO SSS Project

The TRIO-SSS Director and Student Affairs Department Director oversees both the TRIO SSS Project and the Student Affairs Department at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.

 The Director ensures that the TRIO Program meets established goals, objectives, and federal guidelines and is responsible for program development, implementation, and management of day-to-day operations, planning, supervision and evaluation of programs and program staff, budgeting, maintaining appropriate program records, and preparing and submitting time and effort reports and mandated compliance reports.

 This position is also responsible for designing and implementing engagement and retention strategies that meet Middle States standards; staff management and training; the Student Success Center; and tutoring and transfer and career assistance initiatives.

This position is the primary liaison between the TRIO Student Support Services Project and College administrators, faculty, participants, and community representatives interested in the TRIO programs.

The Director also ensures awareness and understanding of TRIO programs by providing presentations and networking.

The SSS Director assures that the program is organized, monitored, and managed to meet goals and objectives by designing, developing and directing all facets of the Student Support Services programs in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education program guidelines, as well as the specific requirements outlined in the approved grant proposal.

Familiarity with TRIO-SSS, TRIO Programs, or similar programs designed to assist historically marginalized and disenfranchised, non-traditional, first-generation students is a key component to success in this position.

 Special consideration will be given to qualified candidates who have experience as a first-generation college student, low- income college student, or both.

 Required skills for this job are:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Computer skills including database management, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • In addition, this position requires an understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion with the ability view programs and services from an equity lens.

 Candidates for this position must have a Master’s degree in administration, academic/career counseling, educational leadership, social services, education, counseling, or a related field.
