The new CEO of Radnor-based Lincoln Financial is far away from her early goal of being a Broadway singer, but Ellen Cooper has done all right.

Cooper heads one of the country’s largest public companies, writes Jeff Blumenthal for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Lincoln Financial was her client when she was headed insurance strategy at Goldman Sachs in New York.

So when a position opened up in 2012 at Lincoln for chief investment officer, Cooper applied and got the job.

This Philadelphia sports fan was thrilled, especially since Lincoln Financial now had the naming rights to the Eagles’ stadium.

Ten years later, Cooper, 57, has replaced Dennis Glass as CEO.

She hopes to grow the company while maintaining its goal of providing financial security and protection to Americans.

Lincoln paid out more than $1 billion in claims to families who lost loved ones to COVID, she said.

“We have been there for them and been able to provide that benefit for them,” she said.

Cooper would like to see more investment in technology and talent at the company.

She’s encouraged that more women and people of color are serving as mentors to help employees advance their careers.
