Delaware County Ranks Among Best Counties to Retire in Pennsylvania

Picking a place to retire, you want a spot where you can enjoy life with as few concerns as possible.

Delaware County is among the best counties in Pennsylvania where seniors can settle down and enjoy their own private oasis after a lifetime of working, according to a recently released ranking by Stacker.

Stacker compiled the ranking of the best counties to retire in the Keystone State using data from Niche. This ranks the counties based on several relevant metrics, including the cost of living, healthcare, recreation, and the weather.

Delaware County came in 12th place, dropping down two spots compared to last year.

The county has a population of 565,328 and a median home value of $247,900. The median rent is $1,109. Homeowners make up 69 percent of the county’s population and just 31 percent of residents rent their homes.

Meanwhile, the median household income is $76,238. This is higher than the national average of $64,994.

Top places to live in the county that were awarded an A+ grade by Niche include Swarthmore, Nether Providence Township, and Radnor Township.

The county also received excellent grades for its weather and outdoor activities.
