Tuesday with Michael: 6 Steps to Crushing Your Goals in the Second Half of 2022

Remember back in January when you had goals and hopes for the new year? This week we stepped into the second half of the year. There is still time!

The first step is to define your mission by asking yourself these questions, “What would I like to have accomplished by the end of this year?” And “What is my motivation to achieve these goals?”

Your answer may be as brief as to be more positive, more organized, more confident, or more complex like to have great financial success or have a memorable family adventure. In a brief paragraph or statement, write down your answer(s).

The second step is to prioritize the six areas of life that we talked about last week and identify your most important personal and business goals! This exercise will help you to maintain balance in all areas of your life.

Give particular attention to what you want to initiate this month and tie everything to a deadline.

Step three is to list all your High Pay Activities (HPA’s) while keeping your goals list in front of you and refer to them daily. The Goals and HPA page is a daily opportunity to focus on your top personal and business goals for the year.

Step four: make a High Priority List outlining the personal and business projects that support beginning or completing this year’s goals. Imperative projects are those that must be completed while important projects are helpful to your achievement but are not urgent.

Written goals with deadlines are an incredible tool for success; you need to operate under a sense of urgency. The process itself will make a dramatic difference in achieving your personal and professional goals.

Once you have identified your High Priority Goals, step five is to develop the plan to achieve them. Focus on outcome-based strategies that are specific and measurable. Put them in writing with completion dates. How will you know that you have accomplished the goal? How will you track and measure it? Everything you do should lead you toward your goals.

Finally, Step Six is to track your progress daily, checking off activities as you complete them. This will provide the feedback you need. If you are satisfied with your results, stick with your program, and see how much more you can accomplish by investing more time, effort, and energy. If you’re not satisfied, use this feedback to correct your behavior.

Stay focused by referring to the High Priority Goals List and your goal program regularly, redirecting as necessary, and by year end, you will have made a significant impact in your personal and professional life.
